The 7 User Phases

People generally go through seven phases on their journey to awareness, empathy, and ultimately, inclusiveness. Becoming aware of unconscious bias can be a powerful and life-changing process, and our goal at Crescendo is to make use of high-impact content and precise personal analytics to create the perfect conditions for this awareness to grow in each of our users.

Crescendo is a diversity education tool that integrates with Slack & Microsoft Teams, and helps build empathy in employees for a more inclusive and productive workplace. We aim to move users towards greater awareness, empathy, and inclusivity, as outlined above.

Crescendo places each user on a learning path that is built just for them. Each learning path educates the user about concepts and experiences they may not be familiar with, in the categories of gender, sexuality, race, ethnic background, socioeconomic status, (dis)ability, and age, using relatable content sourced online that features real people telling their stories.

As users interact with content, our technology recommends content that will help them learn about different topics and complexities. Helping them become a champion at the click of a button


Metrics for User Success

Our one metric that matters: Increased percentage of positive feedback given to content sent by Crescendo over time (vs non-response or negative feedback).

Core research questions for quantitative product success:

  • Does our app have the capacity to go viral, even on a micro level?

  • How can we improve the user experience?
